The Ryder Cup, Waiting for Snow, Running

The 2014 regular season for Rory McIlroy was near perfect.  He accomplished a lot and grew as a player.  Rory has proven himself again and again throughout his career.   The U.S. on the other hand, got spanked in golf last weekend. The Europeans took the United States 16 1/2 to 11 1/2.  This is the norm for the Americans when the cup is held in Europe.  Each year elected players represent either the U.S. or Europe and play golf matches against each other. There is also a captain elected for each side. The tournament starts like all other tournaments on Thursday and ends on Sunday. When playing matches, a new rule exists- if the ball is close to the hole one side can elect to "give", or concede, their opponents putt. This means that they can pick their ball up and automatically count it as "in". The strategy is to give your opponent a freebie in the early going, but near the end of the game make him/her make the short putts.  This way it is harder to make the shorter putts later, because you've had no experience doing so in the early going. This also keeps the game exciting for those watching. Most people think golf is a boring sport to watch. That's because it is. It can be quite entertaining to watch in person though, because you have the chance to get right up next to the athletes. Here's a little trivia- The best athletes in the world play tennis.

That's all the claptrap (look it up) I can muster for now.  My writing has been below par for some time now, hopefully one day I can really write something that makes sense.

Happy new year and cheers to Christmas lights, marriage, brushing your teeth, December birthdays, vacations in Australia, weighing ~185 lbs., museums, etc.
